I wanted to create a blog that I’ve felt is necessary for a number of years. Photography is a completely unregulated industry & because of that, it’s hard for clients to know what they should expect by way of experience & investment. I believe that educated clients are the very best clients. We raise the bar for the entire industry when clients are fully informed & can make investment decisions with eyes wide open. Luxury maternity sessions can range anywhere from $800 to $3000 or more. The cost will depend on several factors, including the photographer's skill and expertise, the duration of the session, the number of edited photos provided, the use of props and studio settings, and additional services like hair and makeup or customized albums. Skill & Expertise

Some questions to consider. How long has your photographer been in business? Are they respected in the photography industry? These are important considerations because photography is like all other skills. The more time someone has invested in learning the art of photography & the more experience they have the more valuable their art becomes. The more time in business, the more likely they are to understand the clients needs & how to fulfill them. We’ve been serving luxury clients in the Cincinnati, Kentucky & Indiana areas for over 15 years.

*For beginner photographers you’ll likely spend between $100-500 on your session.

*For a seasoned photographer, you’ll likely invest anywhere from $800-1500.

*For an expert, you’ll invest $1500-3000.

Duration of the Session

How much time is being invested into creating your maternity art? Sessions can range from 15 minute mini-sessions to full day shoots. Most luxury sessions will include at least two hours of time so that the experience has time to develop (yes, that’s a photography pun). Our Luxe Package includes 3 hours.

*petite sessions can range based on experience from $50-1000

*premium sessions can range based on experience from $300-2000

The Number of Edited Images Provided

Photographers vary on the number of edited images delivered. Here’s what we know…100 images is too many, 50 images is too many. The job of the professional is to offer you the VERY BEST images. That means that in a Luxury experience, the most amazing images chosen for you and delivered as flawless finishes. Our Luxe package includes 30 jaw-dropping digital images that will make you so proud of your decision to work with us!

Cost of Studio & Props or Wardrobe

As with most luxury experiences, a luxury maternity session should provide all the details so that you have the ability to show up and be pampered & supported in your session. A studio experience is important to most expecting moms because comfort is key. Who wants to go outside & have a session in 90-100 degree heat or below freezing temperatures? Most studio photographers providing true luxury know how to make the inside look like the outside without sacrificing your comfort. Depending on the size & location of the studio you’ll be using, the studio expenses for rent/mortgage could vary between $450 for shared spaces up to $3000 for individual spaces. Our studio is located in downtown Cincinnati, just across the bridge from Kentucky & about 90 minutes from Columbus, Indianapolis & Louisville. Additional Services

Not all clients are interested in add-on services like hair & makeup or professional lab products. However, most, if not all, luxury photography studios are able to provide these services as an add-on to your session. We offer a wide range of products from our professional labs & have partnered with the very best professionals in the area for hair & makeup services at Brideface.

How to:

1. Do your research.

2. Do check reviews.

3. Do ask for a studio tour.

4. Do involve your significant other.

5. Don’t pay less than the level of experience & delivery you desire. If it’s cheap….well, you know the rest.

6. Do be certain of inclusions. (Some maternity gowns from Amazon are $20 while designer maternity gowns can range from $400-2000 each. There is a huge difference in quality, fit & feel! Most luxury, expert photographers don’t offer you Amazon gowns.) The majestic angel wings that we all LOVE cost around $1500 per set! The best way for you to know all of this is to refer back to #3 :)

7. Do expect a consultation. If you’re wanting Luxury, we need to know what that means to you! Believe me, we want to NAIL IT! It’s such a great way to start a relationship & it’s a wonderful way to get a glimpse of what your experience might be like.
