Parents have so many questions about Cake Smash Sessions. Will my baby like the cake? What should I bring? What is the best time of day for the session? Should the session be on the baby’s birthday? What should my baby wear?

At Tracie Jean Photo Studios we work around your baby’s nap schedule to ensure best results. Every baby is different and nap schedules vary. A tired baby is rarely ready for pictures. We’ve found that some baby’s love cake, while others have zero interest (although we have tricks to work around this). Most 1 year olds have not been introduced to a lot of sugar and frosting does tend to be very sweet. Naked cakes can really make a huge difference in baby’s interest in eating the cake because the frosting is lightly spread.

We start every Cake Smash Session with milestone pictures. It’s so important for baby’s to see themselves in images with their parents. We have outfits available in the studio for your one year old included in the session fee however, if you have outfits you’re in love with feel free to bring them with you.

The best time to start thinking about booking your Cake Smash Session is when your baby is 9-10 months old. Booking around this time allows us to source any additional items that we may not have and put together the perfect experience for your family.
