We had the privilege of being the photographers for MaryAnne and Jonathon’s wedding in June of 2012. We are so grateful to have the opportunity to watch their lives unfold and their family grow!

One of our very favorite things about being photographers is the blessing of family and the joy of watching a couple create a legacy of love together. It inspires us beyond words! I, personally, get so much fuel creatively from these experiences.

Time after time, I have parents express to me how concerned they are about how their children will “behave” during a creative session. The adorable image below of Cate under MaryAnnes’ gown train is a perfect example of the perfection of a child. They will come to the shoot and “behave” just like children. We wouldn’t have it any other way! Children remind us adults how to express ourselves in full authenticity. It is what is both beautiful and uncontrolled that makes us marvel at their innocence and expressiveness. We encourage that authenticity…it turns out to be a very rare and precious gift…and we’re getting really good at encouraging our adult clients to tap into that part of themselves as well.

Your kids are perfect…AS IS. Don’t let an idea that they should be “quiet” or “sit and smile” or “cooperate” keep you from having the legacy of love that your family will treasure for generations.
