Engagement Session Tips

Every couple asks, “How do we make our engagement session the best ever?!?” Here’s what our experiences have taught us….

Ladies:

Schedule your manicure and pedicure! We’ll be using your hands as a prop for that ginormous rock on your finger. Plus, you deserve a relaxing mani-pedi!!

Get in with our favorite hair and make up artist, Heather @ HeatherFarrellBeauty (513)377-8673! She’ll set you up with an incredible look for your engagement session. Believe me, this really throws things straight over the top!

Have your engagement ring cleaned 🙂 Just when you thought you couldn’t love it more…a clean ring makes for stunning photographs!

Accessorize! We love shoes, belts, hair flowers, scarves, boots! Bring it!

Bring 2-3 outfits…you can include one that is more casual and one more dressy. Either way, beg, borrow or steal (not really the steal part) whatever you feel your best in!

Gentlemen:

Have your haircut done at least a few days before the shoot (give it a little time to not look too freshly cut)!

Shave 🙂

Relax! It will be more fun than you think!

Together:

Decide on colors. If one of you is going with light colors, try to stay in a consistent palette but, not the same color. Either both of you wear darks or both of you wear lights. Black absorbs light so we try to steer away from it but, We LOVE neutrals 🙂

Stick with solids. Patterns tend to distract a bit from the subjects…YOU!

Decide on location. If you need advice, we’re always here with both traditional and weird suggestions 🙂 Are you a nature buff? Or do urban settings do it for you?

Props! Do you love balloons, bikes, football, smores, candy, camping, animals, trees, water, vintage suitcases, etc? The world is your oyster! We’re game for almost anything 🙂

Things to consider:

Do the model…

~find the light 🙂

~bend your arms…this helps to ward off the evil “arm squished against body” monster!

~put your weight on that back leg…this makes you long and lean 😉

~look at yourself in the mirror…what’s your best side?

~Be you! We like you. So does your fiancé! Get cozy and display some affection! If you’re camera shy…we will break you! Ha! You’re gonna love your engagement photographs 🙂
